Building Information Modelling (BIM)

What is BIM?

BIM is a modelling technology that integrates a set of processes to produce, communicate, analyze, and use digital information models throughout the construction project lifecycle. In contrast to other 3 dimension (3D) modelling softwares, designers can create 3D models on a software that is entirely dedicated to construction. BIM provides out-and-out details in that modelling, which gives the users thorough insights into how the construction project will look throughout a building’s lifespan.

How Does BIM work?

For example, a user of BIM can get detailed information and updates on the component structures of a building. The components could be a door, a staircase, ttables, or any tangible parts of the building. Each of these components is assessed by the software via 3D modelling, which gives real-time updates such as the replacement of a door. The moment a door is being replaced in the building, users will get access to new or updated information regarding the new materials of that door, such as its soundproofing, energy footprint, fire protections, and budget.

Benefits of BIM?

From cenceptual design to operational aspects of a project, BIM integrates workflow and allows digital exploration of the project. It serves as a digital platform to better coordinate, communicate effectively, and resolve issues among project stakeholders efficiently.

Common issues within the construction industruy that were deemed irremediable in conventional construction ventures, such as labour efficiency gaps, cost overruns, quality issues, and other.

Building Information Modelling (BIM) with myBIM Centre

Building Information Modelling or BIM is a modelling technology and associated set of processes to produce, communicate, analyse and use of digital information models throughout construction project lifecycle.

From conceptual design to operational aspects of a project, BIM integrates workflow and allow digital exploration of the project. It serves as a digital platform to coordinate better, communicate effectively and resolve issues among project stakeholders efficiently.

Common issues within the construction industry which were deemed irremediable in conventional construction ventures such as labor efficiency gap, cost overrun, quality issues and other inefficiencies in project delivery process, can now be mitigated and addressed effectively via BIM.

Considering its boundless practical benefits and adaptability, myBIM Centre is intensively promulgating BIM within the national construction industry.

Virtual Insights for Precise Physical Reality

Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a crucial technology to achieve reliable and sustainable lifecycle maintenance of the built environment. It essentially overcomes collaboration challenges, minimizes margin of error and optimizes resources allocation in a project.

Virtual Foresight

Building Information Modelling (BIM) allows thorough and informed visual inspection and assessment of a project. Rework is common in conventional construction project, and is substantial to the total cost of project. The ability to explore project virtually with BIM diminishes such probability for rework.

Greater Communication

BIM improves project stakeholder's communication and resolve disparity efficiently. Project stakeholders may share updates and project timelines in real-time. Design collaboration in general derives more value from Building Information Modelling (BIM).

Optimized Resources Utilization

With precise allocation of manpower, time and materials, BIM offers considerable improvement on construction lifecycle and supply chain management.
